Lent
I’m Catholic and so is the rest of my family. Usually the only thing that we give up for lent is meat and that’s only for wednesdays and fridays (I think this is the most common thing to do by Catholics in Indonesian). But i’ve decided to do something different this year. So far i’ve been doing quite awful nutrition-wise and i think lent is a good opportunity to fix my eating habits. These are my rules for today until 7th April:
1. absolutely no ice cream. i know moderation won’t work for me, i totally lack self restrain. one second i’m nibbling spoonfuls of that yummy stuff then half an hour later the entire 2L tub is gone.
2. no chocolate blocks/bars. my addiction to chocolate is just plain crazy. and same with ice cream, it’s either all or nothing.
3. i can still have cakes, cookies, muffins, pastries etc (including anything that contains chocolate) BUT only the ones i make, no baked goods from supermarket / bakeries. this isn’t really a problem though, i’m able to make pretty much whatever i’m in the mood for so i’m not completely depriving myself from the cravings.
4. no restrictions on pasta, bread, meat, dairy products, potatoes and eggs. i don’t see any benefits for me to ban them from my daily intake and i rarely eat non-sweet stuff until uncomfortably full anyway.
Yep that’s it. I can do this.
